How very interesting! Although text may do better than pictures, it all depends on the kind of words used. I chose the wrong ad the first time, but the correct ad the second time. I failed the first example because although it seemed cluttered, I didn't have a chance to really read the text (did the headline have much to do with it, as that's where I looked?), whereas I succeeded with the second example because the graphic shown was just crap, and wouldn't have persuaded anyone to respond!
